Vacancies at Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN)


The Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) was established in 2004 as a not-for-profit organization to address the HIV/AIDS crises in Nigeria through the development of infrastructure for treatment,
care, prevention, and support for people living with and those affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases. It is also established to implement scale-up of the US President Emergency Fund for AID Relief (PEPFAR) program and conduct research and training to promote quality evidence-based health systems strengthening.


We are currently recruiting for:

1) Job: FINANCE ASSISTANT

REQUIREMENTS: The Finance Assistant, who should hold a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting is expected to have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience on the job/similar assignment, have analytical skills; computer literate and vast in the use of spread sheet applications. Successful candidate will report to the Finance Officer and be able to use initiatives. Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or similar professional qualification is not required but possession of such may be an added advantage.
 DUTIES: The schedule of duties will include:
  • Coordination of all financial transactions at the state and regional offices
  • Maintenance of Cashbooks and Petty Cash for various Grants
  • Preparation of Monthly Grants Reports;: budget , payments, tracking of expenses and generation of budget/actual variance reports
  • Documentation and workflow preparation
  • Management and Administration of Accounts Payable transactions
  • Bank Reconciliation of Grant accounts
  • Preparation of Monthly sites disbursement
  • Assist the Regional finance officer in all regional transactions
  • Capture Vouchers into ACCPAC directly from the regional office
  • Follow up of Bank transactions.
  • Photocopy and Dispatch of Vouchers to Head Office.

2) Job: FINANCE OFFICER
REQUIREMENTS: The Finance Officer who should hold a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting is expected to have a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience on the job/similar assignment, have analytical skills; computer literate and vast in the use of spread sheet applications.Successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and be able to work with less supervision. Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or similar professional qualification will be an added advantage. 
DUTIES: The schedule of duties will include:
  • Preparation of Monthly Payroll
  • Cost Allocation of payroll expenses per grant heads
  • Harmonization of monthly timesheets submitted by staff into the Payroll
  • Oversees the Timely remissions of Payroll Deductions (PAYE, IHVN Cooperative, Pension Fund, National Housing Fund, Communications etc)
  • Aligning Budget Payroll expense heads into monthly payroll according to Grant percentage efforts.
  • Grants Payroll reporting journals to respective grants officer for harmonization into the reporting template for every grant.
  • Posting of Electronic Banking Salary payments with follow up email notification to staffs
  • Preparation of management and statutory accounts.
  • Maintenance of USD Dom cash books and bank accounts.
  • Custody of USD payment vouchers/support documents and transfer instructions to bank(s);
  • Responsible for GF HSS Grant: Budgets, Payments, Tracking of expenses and Financial Reporting
  • Responsible for GF Malaria Grant: Budgets, Payments, Tracking of expenses and Financial Reporting
  • Responsible for GF TB Grant: Budgets, Payments, Tracking of expenses and Financial Reporting
  • Supervision of Data capture clerks
